Raw Salted Caramel Slice Recipe

caramelslice2Truth be told, I really don’t like caramel slice. It’s too sweet, full of stuff I don’t usually eat and just way down on my list of “treats”, however I decided to give this one a go because it’s the “better option” but still a treat in itself. I reworked a previous recipe to suit myself, and bring down the sweetness levels a lot – this is actually one of my favourite raw recipes!


This recipe SEEMS like a lot of effort, but it doesn’t take that long at all, and it’s so popular with my family and friends that I am making this at least once a week. And we all know how lazy I am!

Salted Caramel Slice



  • 1 cup pitted dates
  • ½ cup soaked almonds
  • 2 T melted coconut oil
  • 2 T peanut butter

Caramel Filling

  • 1 cup pitted dates
  • ½ cup melted coconut oil
  • 1 T peanut butter
  • 1 T tahini
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup almond milk
  • Pinch of salt flakes


  • ¼ cup melted coconut oil
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • ¼ cup raw cacao powder


  • Line a baking tray with glad wrap


  • Add all ingredients into blender and whizz together.
  • With damp hands, press the mixture into the bottom of the tray.
  • Freeze while you make the filling.


  • Blitz all ingredients together until a smooth peanut butter consistency.
  • Pour filling over the base and sprinkle a pinch of salt over the top.
  • Freeze for an hour.


  • Mix together the ingredients until glossy.
  • Pour over the filling then freeze to set.

Slice while it’s frozen and either eat while frozen or at room temperature.

      Hi Virginia, absolutely, do you have “nut allergies” or just peanut allergies? If the latter, you can use tahini and cashews (or almonds) instead – it will come out a little sweeter instead, but the tahini is a good one as it tastes similar to PB.
